The idea
Movement is not always created through motion.
It spent years in the water pretending to be a jellyfish. Now it is one.
While observing jellyfish drifting in an aquarium in Crete, what remained memorable was not their speed but their quiet rhythm — the sensation of floating without effort, guided only by the surrounding water. La Méduse translates that sensation into an object suspended between gravity and weightlessness.
Its delicate structural elements support softly illuminated forms whose visual lightness contrasts with the precision required to make them. Every transition has been simplified until only the essential remains, letting light and shadow define the object as much as the material itself.
Rather than imitating nature, La Méduse expresses one of its enduring qualities: calm movement. The object changes character throughout the day, responding to light, perspective and the atmosphere of the room without ever demanding attention.
Produced as a limited edition, it reflects IDEA34’s belief that meaningful objects should invite contemplation long after their function is understood.
